Back In The Day

For ages people have attempted to find out where Agnes attended high school.  In a front page article written when she was nominated for a Golden Globe award for her performance as Aunt Fanny in Orson Welle's "The Magnificent Ambersons" she states she attended Central High School in St. Louis.  At various times other information has come to light that she may have attended, at least for a short while, Soldan High School.

1914 and 1915 Soldan High School singing group "The Chaminade."

I attended Soldan High School in St. Louis from January, 1954, through October, 1954, when our family moved to the suburb of Normandy. There is no question that Aggie went to Soldan. She was mentioned often and Chaminade was still the acclaimed girls' singing ensemble when I was there. It is doubtful Aggie ever even attended Central, which was located north on Grand Avenue at Bell at the time, except for two years when it was moved to Yeatman High while Central was being updated. (All the students and teachers moved back to Central in September, 1927m when an F4 tornado hit the school around 1 p.m., heavily damaging the building and killing five students. Back to Yeatman everyone went.)
